Ivins, UT Overview
Ivins, originally called Santa Clara Bench, was incorporated as Ivins City in 1935. It was settled in the early 1920's after the canal was completed which carried water from the Santa Clara River to the town.

Situated literally at the base of majestic cliffs of reddish sandstone, more widely known as the Big Red Mountain, is the quaint community of Ivins City, Utah. You can stand in one place and experience the 1500-foot sandstone cliffs and white sandstone formations that top dark lava flows and take in the blue-gray mountains as well as the pinkish peaks of Zion National Park. Then you can lower your eyes to the blanket of grey-green, sage-covered hills dotted with brilliantly colored desert flowers. Among these hills live quail and rabbits and other animals. As you glance upward again, high above, you can watch peregrine falcons in flight and eagles soaring on the thermals.
You’ll find this gorgeous locale in southwestern Utah right next to St. George, but just far enough away from I-15 that you can still hear the gentle refrain of the desert’s song of gentle breezes and chirping crickets.
